How to sell a RV in Arizona
An RV bill of sale covers motorhomes, campers, travel trailers and fifth wheels. Motorhomes need an odometer reading like any motor vehicle; towable campers do not. Every state titles RVs through the DMV, so the buyer will need the signed title and this bill of sale to register.
Seller steps
- Confirm you hold clear title. If a lender is on the title, get the lien release before you list it.
- Agree on the price and fill in the Arizona RV bill of sale above with the buyer. Record the VIN and the exact odometer reading.
- Sign it. Signing in front of a notary is not always required in Arizona, but offices ask for it often enough that it is worth the few dollars.
- Sign the title over to the buyer exactly as your name appears on it, and complete the odometer section on the title if the RV has one.
- File a notice of sale or release of liability with the Arizona Department of Transportation if Arizona offers one, remove your plates if the state keeps plates with the seller, and cancel the insurance once the buyer has driven away.
Buyer steps
- Bring the signed bill of sale (or Arizona's Form 48-2004), the signed title and your ID to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
- Expect to pay sales or use tax on the price shown on the bill of sale, plus title and registration fees.
- Register within Arizona's deadline, commonly 10 to 30 days from the sale date, to avoid late penalties.
Before you sign
- Note whether it is a motorhome (odometer required) or a towable (no odometer).
- List every included item: generator, solar, hitch, leveling blocks, furniture.
- Check for a lien; many RVs are financed for 10 to 15 years.
- Photograph the VIN plate and the data sticker near the door.
Why a bill of sale matters for a RV
- RVs are high-value and often sold with generators, hitches and furnishings that should be listed.
- The DMV uses the price for sales tax, which on a $40,000 rig is real money.
- Motorhomes need federal odometer disclosure; this form includes it.
- An as-is clause protects the seller from water-damage and appliance claims later.
Selling a RV? The $19 sell-your-vehicle kit adds a signed release of liability and a Arizona checklist to the pack, so the handoff is finished the day you sign.

Arizona RV bill of sale questions
Is a bill of sale required to sell a RV in Arizona?+
Arizona requires a bill of sale in common situations, such as when the title does not show the purchase price. Arizona's Form 48-2004 is submitted with the title when the seller's signature on the title is missing or incorrect, and it must be notarized when it is used that way. Buyers must apply for a title within 15 days of purchase. Sellers remove the plate before the buyer drives off and file a Sold Notice online. Arizona publishes Form 48-2004 for this; the PDF from this page carries the same information and is accepted alongside it.
Does a Arizona RV bill of sale need to be notarized?+
Notarization is not always required in Arizona, but offices often ask for it, so it is worth doing. The ready-to-sign pack includes a notary acknowledgment page formatted for Arizona.
Where does the buyer take the bill of sale in Arizona?+
To the Arizona Department of Transportation (Motor Vehicle Division) or the county office that handles vehicle registration, together with the signed title, proof of insurance where required, and payment for tax and fees.
Does an RV bill of sale need an odometer reading?+
Only for motorhomes (Class A, B and C). Travel trailers, fifth wheels and pop-ups have no odometer, so leave that field blank; the generator hides the disclosure page for towables when the odometer is empty.
Can I sell a camper without a title?+
Some states exempt older or lighter campers from titling. If there is no title, the bill of sale becomes the main proof of ownership, so fill it out completely and get it notarized if your state asks for that.
